West High GEAR UP Earns FASFA Challenge Award for 2019-2020

The GEAR UP Iowa FAFSA Challenge is a statewide campaign by GEAR UP Iowa dedicated to increasing the number of GEAR UP Iowa high school seniors who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Using data from student aspirations in the GUI survey, the challenge encourages all GEAR UP Iowa students to reach their goal of attending postsecondary and completing the FAFSA is the way to get there!

FAFSA Completion Challenge Winners

Highest number of GUI seniors completing a FAFSA: Des Moines Roosevelt—276

Highest percentage completing a FAFSA: Columbus Junction—76.6%

Largest growth from the previous school year: Sioux City West High—17.6%

The real winners, though, are our students. Completing the FAFSA opens opportunities and gives them access to the GEAR UP Iowa scholarship to help pay for college.
